Stories From the Road #12 - Hull Ave Tavern 3-22-13

Second gig of the year, and what a crazy night it was. A birthday bash for the ages, in honor of our Drummer. 20 Foot forehead opened the show with a face melting acoustic set. 2 songs into their set, and The ever Eccentric 20 Foot forehead Vocalist Jeffy Alexander laid the ground rules for the night....

"Anytime anyone says 'Budda!' everyone has to drink. BUDDA!!!!"

Not only did this set the pace for most in attendance to be flirting with drunkenness before 20 Foot Forehead finished their set, but this also had the crowd shouting out "Budda!" at possible opportunity - including the man of honor himself, grabbing the mic and spitting about 20 successive "Budda's" in one fell swoop of vocal deluge. One glance around the venue, and almost as far as the eye could see, there were empty shot glasses accompanying empty pitchers and bottles of various brands of suds and malted beverages adorning every table En Masse. Despite being sans drummer and rocking acoustic, Jeffy and the gang delivered in true rock and roll fashion, rolling out the red carpet for the hard rock mayhem that was about to descend upon the Hull Ave Tavern.

After a short change over, In Troubled Times made their return to the stage, delivering their own brand of modern hard rock sound that took many by surprise. Performing fan favorites such as "Hobo with a Shotgun" and "Intruder" as well as rousing cover tune renditions of "Fallen" and "We Die Young", from the first note to the last cymbal crash, ITT made it clear that the band was back, stronger than ever.

Finally, the Mighty Blacked Out World took the stage to headline the insanity that we dubbed "Party". In True Heavy Rock fashion, The Blacked Out Brotherhood crushed it. Opening the set with brand new tunes from their forthcoming album "RED, WHITE & BLACK", the BOW war machine cut a swath of audiological destruction, ripping through crowd favorites "Bleed For You", "Nowhere Man" as well as unleashing some more brand new music and finally capping a brutal set with BOW's own take on Classic Metal covers of Black Sabbath's"Snowblind" and Black Label Society's "Graveyard Disciples". Taking heads off, 1, 2, BBQ! According to one of the fans "Once again, Blacked Out world makes this shit look easy".  All in all, it was a fun night, and a gig for the history books.
